I am having trouble finding type A fluid for my transmission. Any substitutes????

Below is an answer from a fellow member of the Delmarva Chapter POCI, who owns two transmission shops:

"Dexron replaced type A in late 60's. Ford went to type f. If its for a trans you can use Dexron 3/4 or multi blend dex/mercon. Now I heard Walmart sometimes has it and NAPA. Type a.
If its a dynaflow it will not know the difference."
