I ran across an interesting thread on the PY forum, with good pics showing how to differentiate a 389 block vs. a 421:

Invariably I check out every 421-badged Poncho to see if it is the "real thing". Amazing how often the badges are lying, or (in the case of '65 or'66 2+2's, which all came with a 421) no longer have the correct engine.
